Water Treatment Plant Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled Operations and Maintenance Specialist to join our team at Veolia North America. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our municipal class-4 water treatment plant.
Key Responsibilities- Operate and maintain equipment, including manual and automated systems, to ensure optimal plant performance.
- Perform field tests and laboratory analyses to monitor water quality and make adjustments as needed.
- Monitor and record operating conditions, diagnose problems, and take corrective action to prevent equipment failure.
- Follow established process control procedures and report any malfunctions or variances to management.
- Prepare chemical solutions, monitor process chemical supplies, and recommend reorders as necessary.
- Sample water and solids according to schedule and perform routine laboratory tests and instrument calibrations.
- Perform minor maintenance, including routine preventive and corrective maintenance, lubrication, and minor adjustments.
- Operate vehicles for plant operational use and perform cleanup and housekeeping tasks for work areas, tools, equipment, facilities, and grounds.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience in a water treatment environment, with knowledge of water treatment methods, techniques, principles, and practices preferred.
- Certification as a water operator preferred.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills, with ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Proficiency in PC skills, including word processing and spreadsheet management.
- Ability to respond to 24-hour emergency on-call situations, if required.
- Valid driver's license and safe driving record.
- Ability to pass a drug screen and criminal background check.
The Operations and Maintenance Specialist will typically spend 75% of their time in an operations environment and 25% in an office environment. The position may require working outside in inclement weather conditions and driving company vehicles to perform duties.
Physical RequirementsThe employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and have specific vision abilities, including close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
