Position Overview:
As a Security Specialist II, you will perform a variety of tasks aimed at assisting and providing information to patients, visitors, and staff. Your role will involve enforcing policies and procedures to ensure a safe and secure environment, in alignment with the WVUH Security Program.

Minimum Qualifications:
IF PRIOR TO MAY 1, 2022:
  • Valid Driver's License - Must be maintained throughout employment.
  • Certification in HeartSaver First Aid within 60 days of hire.
  • Successful completion of WV DHHR Protected Services Record Check and WV CARES fingerprint-based criminal background check.
IF HIRED ON OR AFTER MAY 1, 2022:
  • High School diploma or equivalent AND one (1) year of experience in the Security field.
  • OR Associate's degree in criminal justice, criminology, forensics, law, or a related field.
  • Valid Driver's License - Must be maintained throughout employment.
  • Certification in HeartSaver First Aid within 60 days of hire.
  • Successful completion of WV DHHR Protected Services Record Check and WV CARES fingerprint-based criminal background check.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • One (1) year of experience in the Security field.

Core Responsibilities:
The duties outlined below represent the general nature of work performed by individuals in this position. They are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all responsibilities.
  • Maintain a visible presence at assigned locations to serve as an information and directional resource for patients, visitors, and staff.
  • Respond to requests for assistance in a courteous and caring manner.
  • Provide physical assistance, including wheelchair support and escort services.
  • Monitor traffic flow in parking areas and assist with disabled vehicles.
  • Protect individuals and property by preventing accidents, theft, and vandalism.
  • Conduct routine building rounds and patrols to ensure safety.
  • Report suspicious activities and incidents according to established policies.
  • Assist during emergency situations and drills.
  • Document activities and incidents in a clear and factual manner.
  • Operate hospital vehicles safely and conduct vehicle inspections.

Physical Requirements:
The physical demands required for this position include:
  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 80 pounds.
  • Ability to work in various environmental conditions.

Working Environment:
Employees may frequently encounter outside weather conditions while performing their duties.
