Job Title: Human Services Caseworker

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Human Services Caseworker to join our team at New Hanover County. As a Caseworker, you will be responsible for providing excellent customer service to our citizens, conducting interviews, and determining eligibility for various social services programs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct interviews with clients and collateral contacts to determine eligibility for social services programs
  • Explain program requirements and benefits to clients
  • Process applications and compile data for case management
  • Collaborate with other agencies and community programs to provide comprehensive services to clients
  • Document case findings and status
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Two years of related experience providing customer service in a high-public-contact setting
  • Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in NC FAST and other search engines
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous experience as an Income Maintenance, Economic Services, or Universal Caseworker
  • Experience working with low-income families
  • Knowledge of social services programs and policies
