Motive Energy is seeking a highly skilled Principal Electrical Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for conceiving, directing, and implementing commercial and utility-scale solar power projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement electrical systems designs for solar power projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Lead a team of engineers in the design and implementation of electrical systems, including solar PV, battery storage, and EVCS systems.
- Conduct site assessments and document site dimensions, electrical systems, and utility interconnection options.
- Develop and maintain a network of vendor technology partners offering innovative DER solutions.
- Ensure compliance with company, industry, trade, and jurisdictional safety standards, practices, and codes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement project plans, including design, construction, and commissioning.
- Develop and maintain detailed equipment specifications and bill of material.
- Design and develop single-line and three-line diagrams, with required electrical details, in accordance with NEC, IEEE, utility interconnection tariffs, and requirements.
- Review and implement interconnection standards and ensure compliance.
- Prepare interconnection application packages and setup load flow and dynamic models.
- Develop and maintain a deep knowledge of PV system components and balance of systems, including ESS, DC Gensets, and EVCS.
- Manage and perform system studies for protective device coordination and the following explorations: short circuit, arc flash, load flows, ampacity, grounding, harmonic, and power quality.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in distribution, utility, and DER interconnection.
- Experience in SKM or ETAP is a plus.
- PE in California required.
