Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Custodian to join our team at Berean Missionary Baptist Church. As a Custodian, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of our facilities, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for our staff, members, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Clean and sanitize all areas of the church, including kitchens, meeting rooms, offices, sanctuary, restrooms, and grounds.
  • Stock and maintain supplies, including soap, paper towels, sanitizers, and toilet paper.
  • Monitor and maintain proper chemical handling procedures, wearing protective gear as needed.
  • Collaborate with church staff and team members to ensure maintenance tasks are completed efficiently.
  • Conduct regular inventory of cleaning supplies and submit orders as needed.
  • Perform light repairs, including fixing door handles, door stops, replacing light fixtures, and changing light bulbs.
  • Address simple plumbing issues and call for assistance when necessary.
  • Provide support during events and clean-up.
  • Set up conference rooms, event spaces, and meeting rooms, including arranging audio-visual equipment and preparing tables and chairs.
Requirements
  • Commitment to the church's mission, goals, and values.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with cleaning and safety procedures.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds or more.
  • Pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check.
  • Strong knowledge of cleaning techniques, including waxing, disinfecting, and stain removal.
  • Proactive and responsible, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Honest and trustworthy, with access to secured areas.
  • Knowledge of simple plumbing and general repair work.
