Position Overview

The CRA Compliance Officer plays a crucial role in ensuring adherence to the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) and other compliance mandates within the bank. This position is responsible for the development, implementation, and maintenance of a robust compliance framework that addresses CRA obligations, including the monitoring of lending practices, investments, and services aimed at low and moderate-income communities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and execute a comprehensive compliance program to meet all regulatory standards, including but not limited to Regulation O, Regulation W, and CRA regulations.
  • Stay informed on changes in financial regulations to ensure the bank's policies and procedures are current.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments to identify compliance vulnerabilities and propose corrective measures.
  • Collaborate with various departments to minimize compliance risks.
  • Establish and maintain compliance policies and procedures to ensure all staff are informed and compliant.
  • Prepare and submit accurate regulatory reports within designated timelines.
  • Engage with management and different bank departments to address compliance-related inquiries and concerns.
  • Keep abreast of new and revised laws and regulations, leading the bank's compliance change management efforts.
  • Provide internal training on compliance regulations and CRA requirements to all employees.
  • Ensure compliance with consumer protection laws and regulations, including the Truth in Savings Act, Fair Credit Reporting Act, and others.
  • Review and approve consumer lending products and marketing materials for regulatory compliance.
  • Monitor practices related to loan servicing, debt collection, and credit reporting.
  • Participate in compliance board reporting and assist in resolving consumer complaints.
  • Coordinate and manage regulatory audits and examinations.
  • Maintain organized records of compliance activities and ensure documentation is readily available for audits.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution is preferred.
  • Five to ten years of experience in regulatory compliance.
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant regulations and industry best practices.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software.

Language Skills

Ability to communicate effectively in both English and Spanish, including interpreting account documents and addressing complex inquiries from clients.
