Job Summary

The Senior Principal Highway Engineer will be responsible for leading the development of roadway/highway analysis and design, plans production, specifications, reports, and estimates efforts on large-scale conventional and design-build projects for FDOT and county clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage roadway/highway analysis and design efforts on large-scale projects
  • Oversee plans production, specifications, reports, and estimates
  • Lead client communication and manage subconsultants
  • Mentor roadway/highway staff and monitor labor budgets and schedules
  • Coordinate with discipline key task leaders and staff to ensure ongoing communications
  • Perform quality control on deliverables and meet project deliverable schedules and budgets
  • Lead/support marketing and business development initiatives
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited university
  • Minimum 20 years of experience in roadway/highway engineering
  • Florida professional engineering (PE) registration
  • Experience managing conventional and design-build projects relating to intersections, arterials, interstates, and interchanges for FDOT and county clients
  • Working knowledge of MicroStation, Geopak, and/or OpenRoads Designer
  • Experience working with large multi-discipline teams
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and overall quality control and management
Preferred Qualifications
  • Diverse background in the management and delivery of both conventional Design-Bid-Build and alternative delivery projects
  • Experience as a Project Manager and/or subject matter expert within an Owner's Representative Contract for a major corridor
  • Engineer of Record experience in a wide variety of FDOT highway projects
  • Experience delivering FDOT District Wide and/or Continuing Services Contracts
  • Well-established FDOT contacts within respective geography
  • Experience in complex interchange and/or alternative intersection design
  • Capability to oversee and review work performed within Bentley OpenRoads Designer
  • Managed and led a high-performing highway team
