Clinical Nurse Specialist

Schedule:
Flexible scheduling options available, including full-time or part-time positions, with shifts of 3x12 or 4x10
Open 7 days a week, with rotating weekend shifts (1 weekend day required)
Qualifications:
Valid New Jersey RN License – new graduates are welcome to apply
ACLS and BLS Certification required
Familiarity with NextGen is a plus, but not mandatory
IV Certification and completion of Telemetry Course required prior to commencement
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee the planning, execution, direction, and assessment of clinical care provided to surgical patients in the operating room
Engage with patients throughout the various stages of the endoscopy process
Ensure the preparation, organization, and maintenance of the environment, equipment, and supplies necessary for procedures
Supervise nursing tasks related to patient care and establish standards for accurate documentation of patient symptoms, reactions, and progress
Contribute to the development of patient care policies and procedures for the facility
Collaborate with medical staff to coordinate comprehensive medical and nursing management of patient care
Assist in maintaining adequate inventory levels of supplies, medications, and equipment
Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals regarding care
Serve as a knowledgeable resource for other staff members in specialized areas
May assist with patient admissions if time permits
Verify signed consent prior to initiating procedures
At the start of each day, confirm that all necessary supplies for scheduled procedures are available in the operating room
Support Endo Tech with required supplies for cases
Prepare patients for procedures by confirming identity and scheduled interventions, and assist them into the operating room
Help alleviate patient anxiety before and during the administration of conscious sedation
Provide additional instruments and supplies as requested during operations
During conscious sedation cases, monitor vital signs and administer medications as prescribed by the physician
Accurately document and label specimens
Assist in transferring patients to the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)
Ensure that all supplies for each case are prepared and ready for use
Maintain a safe operating environment during procedures
Assist in cleaning the operating room post-procedure
Conduct follow-up calls to patients after surgery and document their responses
Take inventory and restock supplies as necessary in the operating room
Perform tasks within the instrument processing system
Assist with nursing duties in other clinical areas as needed
Help maintain cleanliness in the operating room and support room turnover after each case
Share responsibility with the Endo Tech to ensure all supplies for scheduled cases are collected and prepared
Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.
