Job Title: Para Specialist - Leave Replacement

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Para Specialist to provide leave replacement support in our school district. As a Para Specialist, you will work closely with teachers and students to provide academic and behavioral support, ensuring a safe and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individual and small group tutoring to students in various learning activities
  • Assist teachers in maintaining records, logs, charts, assignments, and other records for student progress
  • Monitor student behavior and maintain discipline according to established policies and procedures
  • Establish and maintain effective communication with students, staff, parents, and the public
  • Provide first aid to injured or ill students as needed
  • Locate, develop, and/or modify materials for student use, enrichment activities, and special projects

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent and one of the following: 2 years of post-secondary study, AA degree or higher, or passed the Educational Testing Service assessment
  • Experience working with school-aged children, tutorial experience desirable
  • Demonstrated proficiency in designated academic subjects preferred
  • Satisfactory background clearance results, proof of ability to work in the United States, and valid Washington State driver's license

Working Conditions:

This position requires on-site work, with occasional lifting and positioning of students, and exposure to infectious diseases carried by students. The ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain a positive attitude is essential.
