Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Design Engineer to join our team at ESPO Corporation. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for executing custom designs for customer-specific applications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop 3D designs and 2D drawings based on specifications for each application.
  • Work on ongoing projects to bring new designs and production capabilities into the business.
  • Generate unique design solutions for customer-specific applications.
  • Generate full production documentation and bills of materials for production.
  • Communicate with the production department and Manufacturing Engineering to resolve part fabrication, assembly, and testing issues.
  • Handle post-production issues with projects.
  • Regularly meet with the engineering team to discuss strategies to improve design practices and efficiencies to improve quality and increase throughput.
  • Process ECRs to capture all changes or errors caught during production.
  • Manage and develop procedures for products and BOMs to improve or perform jobs.
  • Analyze current engineering methods used within the company and develop steps and processes to improve.
  • Document and monitor requirements needed to institute proposed updates in relation to customer experience.
  • Establish a framework for necessary contributions from various departments and facilitate their collaboration.
  • Work alongside project management teams to successfully monitor the progress and implementation of engineering projects and initiatives.
  • Assist other department engineers in creating practical demonstrations of proposed solutions and creating them for other members of the team.
  • Account for possible project challenges or constraints and proactively seek to manage challenges.
  • Provide detailed specifications for proposed solutions, including the time and scope involved.
  • Define clear goals for all aspects of a project and develop steps for their proper execution.
Requirements
  • Possess a positive attitude and optimistic outlook.
  • Experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer 5+ years required.
  • Experience in Exhibit Design a plus.
  • Motivated and organized critical thinker with solid interpersonal and business communication skills.
  • Consensus-oriented collaborative team builder.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a team to set goals, execute project plans, monitor progress, and report observations scientifically.
  • Routinely communicate findings and information to other team members; transparency and knowledge sharing are expected and practiced.
  • Strong ability to work in a fast-paced team environment with fluctuating priorities and collaborate effectively with others.
  • Basic computer skills required, such as knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • A high degree of flexibility and adaptability.
  • Ability to work additional hours as needed to meet customer deliverables on time.
  • Strong communication (verbal and written) and organizational skills.
Qualifications
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related Engineering field.
  • 3+ years of Design Engineer experience in a manufacturing environment, ideally dealing with sheet metal, tubing, wire, and wood.
  • Experience developing product design for manufacturing.
  • Strong SolidWorks experience.
  • Project development skills are essential.
  • Minimum of 3 years of wide-ranging experience in the development, implementation, and technical support with sustaining or improving product manufacturing process with responsibility for results, including costs and methods.
  • Demonstrated ability to work on issues of diverse scope where analysis of situation or data requires evaluation of a variety of factors, including an understanding of current business trends.
  • Demonstrated experience in determining the best use of resources to meet the goals of assignments received in the form of objectives.
  • Able to follow processes and operational policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
  • Spanish language communication skills are a plus.
