Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Building Attendant II to join our team at The University of Texas at Arlington. As a key member of our facilities management team, you will be responsible for performing moderately complex custodial work, including cleaning and caring for buildings, maintaining custodial equipment, and requesting supplies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform general custodial functions such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, and vacuuming, as well as scrubbing tile work, floors, stairways, hallways, shower rooms, locker rooms, and building lobbies.
  • Wax and polish floors, wash windows, and clean and dust furniture and other office equipment.
  • Perform restroom maintenance by applying cleaning chemicals and replenishing supplies.
  • Clean, dust, and disinfect areas such as restrooms, classrooms, and other areas.
  • Key management and supervision of Building Attendant I staff, including providing guidance and training as needed.
  • Dispose of trash and recyclable materials, and operate custodial maintenance equipment, including vacuums, buffers/burnishers, auto-scrubbers, KaiVac's, and extractors.
  • Assure energy conservation by ensuring all non-necessary lights are turned off.
  • Inspect buildings for cleanliness, needed repairs, and completed work orders, and identify problems requiring a work order for correction.
  • Assist in maintaining inventory of custodial equipment, materials, and supplies.
  • Drive a UTA vehicle, and perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Valid Texas driver's license required.
  • Ability to effectively execute oral and written instruction.
  • Must be able to work from ladders, scaffolding, and tops of roofs of buildings.
  • Alertness and careful attention are required to avoid injury to self and others.
Preferred Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Six months of supervisory experience.
  • Six months to one year of experience in custodial and maintenance work.
Working Conditions

The successful candidate will frequently be exposed to one or more disagreeable elements, such as dirt, excessive heat, cold, wetness, prolonged standing, walking, lifting, and carrying. Conditions may involve exposure to all weather elements, biohazards, toxic lab chemicals, poisonous gases, dust, and the need to work in confined spaces, extreme cold or hot, and all weather conditions.
