The Montgomery County Intermediate Unit 23 is seeking a skilled Van Driver to join our team. As a Van Driver, you will be responsible for providing safe and efficient transportation for students on routes as directed throughout Montgomery County, PA.
Key Responsibilities- Operate a school van in a safe and efficient manner, complying with all Federal and State DOT regulations.
- Follow safety regulations and traffic laws, maintaining student order and discipline in accordance with MCIU guidelines and policies.
- Map out the most efficient routes for each student using GPS, perform pre and post-trip vehicle inspections, and follow routes as directed by the Program Administrator - Operations.
- Maintain route logs, complete monthly mileage logs, and communicate with student's parent/guardian about assigned routes.
- Keep the van clean and fueled, communicate repair needs to the transportation office, and assist children in and out of the van and their securements.
- Maintain professional interactions with all stakeholders, report all accidents, and complete required reports.
- Assist with emergencies, attend required training, and notify the Supervisor of any traffic violations incurred while employed.
- Perform clerical tasks, including data entry, processing and filing paperwork, preparing documents, and updating reports.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Valid PA Drivers' License.
- Three (3) years of driving experience and a clean MVR (Motor Vehicle Record).
- Knowledge of safety regulations.
- Able to operate a van and drive all posted routes, as well as perform all physical duties and carry out other responsibilities as assigned.
- Complies with MCIU drug and alcohol policy and random drug-testing program.
- Original certificates of clearance from the State Police, Child Abuse Registry, and PDE FBI.
