About the Role

NFI Industries is seeking a highly skilled Mechatronics Systems Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our automation team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing complex automation systems for our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop new automation systems for our clients, ensuring they meet the required specifications and standards.
  • Support the integration of existing automation systems with new equipment and processes, ensuring seamless operation and minimal downtime.
  • Oversee the work of contractors, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
  • Develop control systems and programming for automation systems, using industry-standard software and hardware.
  • Troubleshoot and solve complex technical problems, working closely with cross-functional teams to resolve issues.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, user manuals, and maintenance guides.
  • Participate in on-site installation, commissioning, and start-up of automation systems, ensuring they are properly integrated and functioning as expected.
  • Provide training and technical support to clients, ensuring they are able to operate and maintain their automation systems effectively.
  • Publish engineering reports documenting design details or qualification test results, highlighting key findings and recommendations.
  • Design, develop, or implement control circuits or algorithms for electromechanical or pneumatic devices or systems, ensuring they meet the required performance and safety standards.
  • Conduct studies to determine the feasibility, costs, or performance benefits of new mechatronic equipment, providing recommendations for future investments.
Requirements
  • 2-5 years of experience in mechatronics, automation, or a related field.
  • Associates degree or certification in a technical field, with knowledge in electrical, mechanical, and software engineering principles.
  • Thorough knowledge of and high skill level programming of motion systems, PLCs, and associated control systems.
  • Knowledge and familiarity with Allen Bradley and RS View a plus.
  • Ability to understand and properly influence decisions of senior management.
  • Ability to influence decision-making of peers.
  • Knowledge of control systems development methodology.
  • Detailed and structured thought process.
  • Ability to interact and communicate with all levels in the organization.
  • Presentation skills, negotiation skills, facilitating skills.
  • Advanced PLC programming skills.
