Job Title: Armed Security Officer

Join the Tulsa Health Department team as an Armed Security Officer, responsible for ensuring the safety and security of our employees, visitors, and property.

Job Summary:

This role involves enforcing regulations, safeguarding life and property, and preventing criminal activity. You will be the first point of contact for employees and visitors, providing directions and information while maintaining a professional and positive demeanor.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Enforce regulations and safeguard life and property at the Health Department and surrounding grounds.
  • Patrol building premises and assigned areas to prevent criminal activity, identify potential safety hazards, and discourage vandalism.
  • Answer inquiries and provide directions to employees and the general public.
  • Coordinate with local law enforcement agencies to expel individuals suspected of committing criminal acts or violating Health Department regulations.
  • Notify local first response agencies of incidents on Health Department property related to law enforcement, fire, and medical emergencies.
  • Complete required training in support of duties and responsibilities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including those related to public health emergency operations.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice or related field preferred.
  • Previous experience in security, military, or law enforcement preferred.
  • Council on Law Enforcement Education and Training (CLEET) Armed Security Guard license required.
  • Valid Oklahoma driver's license required.
  • AED/CPR certification or ability to attain within 6 months of hire required.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
Working Conditions:

Regular exposure to persons carrying communicable diseases. Occasional exposure to adverse weather conditions.

Supervisory Responsibility:

Direct Supervision - None. Indirect Supervision - None. Budget/Money/Material - Responsible for assigned equipment.

Special Requirements:
  • Maintain THD record confidentiality according to HIPAA regulations.
  • Ability and willingness to perform job-related travel to other Health Department campuses.
  • Schedule may include evening, weekend, and holiday hours.
