Position Overview:
The Senior Vascular Imaging Specialist plays a pivotal role within the Division of Vascular and Interventional Radiology. Under the guidance of the Medical Director, the manager, and the medical team, this position is essential in delivering exceptional care to patients undergoing a variety of procedural services. The specialist collaborates with all team members to produce diagnostic images, actively participates as a procedural assistant, and fosters relationships with both staff and patients to ensure a safe and positive experience.
Patient Care Responsibilities:
- Educate patients regarding the purpose and nature of tests or procedures.
- Exhibit the knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care tailored to the age and specific needs of each patient.
- Review patient medical histories, including medications, allergies, and lab results, prior to initiating procedures.
- Confirm that informed consent has been secured before commencing any procedure.
- Demonstrate excellent customer service skills and deliver high-quality care.
- Be available for on-call duties with a 30-minute response time for multiple services.
Procedural Assistance Duties:
- Ensure that an order for a procedure is properly obtained.
- Prepare and maintain a sterile environment suitable for procedures.
- Administer contrast media while adhering to technical and positioning protocols.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of radiation protection and safety standards.
- Assist physicians during complex procedures, ensuring a sterile field is upheld.
- Demonstrate proficiency in operating various imaging rooms and equipment.
Equipment Maintenance:
- Maintain imaging equipment to ensure safe and accurate functionality, prioritizing patient comfort.
- Report any equipment issues to the appropriate personnel for resolution.
- Accurately enter patient data, charges, and supply information into the system.
- Support the imaging department in maintaining necessary accreditations.
General Responsibilities:
- Adhere to hospital and departmental policies, as well as state and accrediting agency standards.
- Utilize experience and judgment to plan and achieve objectives.
- Mentor and guide new staff and students.
- Engage in research initiatives and protocols.
- Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.
