Anesthesia Technician

Position Overview: The Anesthesia Technician plays a crucial role in supporting anesthesia care providers by ensuring the availability and functionality of anesthesia equipment and supplies. This position requires a solid understanding of anesthesia protocols and sterile techniques, along with the ability to maintain a well-organized work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain a thorough knowledge of aseptic practices, ensuring proper disposal of single-use items and preparation of IV maintenance fluids.
- Assess equipment requirements for patient transfers and assist in connecting monitoring devices post-surgery.
- Ensure the availability of essential anesthesia equipment, including emergency airway tools, and assist providers during critical procedures.
- Support the setup of therapeutic pain management applications and manage the cleanliness of anesthesia workspaces.
- Monitor inventory levels of consumable supplies, ensuring that anesthesia carts are fully stocked and organized.
- Conduct routine checks on anesthesia equipment, reporting any issues and maintaining a repair log.
- Participate in the training of new staff, sharing knowledge of best practices and operational procedures.
Qualifications:
- Associate Degree in Anesthesiology Technology or a related field.
- Current licensure in the relevant discipline.
- Certification in Basic Life Support within the initial month of employment.
- Minimum of one year of experience in patient care or nursing assistance.
Physical Requirements: The role demands the ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 40 pounds, and work in protective gear. The technician must also possess good visual and auditory acuity to respond to alarms and equipment notifications.
Work Environment: The technician will work in a clinical setting, interacting closely with medical staff and patients while adhering to safety and health regulations.
