The Job Description

  • Provide Level 2 support for production systems, including applications, databases, middleware components, infrastructure, and network components.
  • Manage production incidents end-to-end within defined Service Level Agreements (SLAs), focusing on resolution rather than assigning blame.
  • Interact with stakeholders such as Release Managers, Program Leads, Service Managers, Development Leads, and Test Leads.
  • Review operational readiness requirements, including monitoring and alerting, log rotation, and resilience of components, and report gaps.
  • Offer pre-implementation support through activities like release note reviews and implementation dry runs.
  • Protect production components by running health checks, monitoring latency, and memory utilization.
  • Automate day-to-day activities and propose changes to improve reliability.
  • Participate in Change Advisory Boards (CABs) and provide feedback on change requests.
  • Support the DevOps team in testing promote pipelines and suggest automation of configuration items.
  • Practice incident management best practices and perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
  • Participate in disaster recovery tests and operational acceptance tests.
  • Analyze the technology stack that makes up the product and optimize recovery time objectives.
  • Collaborate with team members across different time zones.
  • Share knowledge, document improvements, and mentor junior resources.
  • Utilize Jenkins to orchestrate builds and link to Sonar, Maven, etc., to build out the Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipeline.
  • Support deployments of code into multiple lower environments, emphasizing automation wherever possible.
  • Design, implement, and enhance deployment automation based on Chef, with a focus on overall release and deployment processes.
  • Design and implement a Git-based code management strategy that supports multiple environment deployments in parallel, with experience in automation for branch management, code promotions, and version management.
  • Engage in and improve the entire lifecycle of services, from inception and design through deployment, operation, and refinement.
