SUMMARY DESCRIPTION


The Instructional Literacy/Math Coach collaborates as part of the consultancy team within designated school(s), partnering with the school leadership team to identify priorities for improvement, observing and providing constructive feedback on classroom instruction, facilitating professional development, demonstrating lessons, and coaching teachers in both one-on-one and small group settings.

The role of the coach is to enhance the capacity of the school and its educators to deliver high-quality instruction and ensure that all students meet rigorous standards for career and college readiness.

The Instructional Coach primarily supports teachers directly (e.g., through conferencing, co-planning, observing, modeling, co-teaching/coaching). The Instructional Support Coach engages in professional development and self-reflection regarding their own instructional leadership practices.

The Instructional Support Coach upholds high expectations for student learning and communicates that vision of student potential with the teachers they coach, playing a crucial role in reviewing, analyzing, and interpreting various data to inform instructional planning, practices, and decision-making aligned with district and school priorities, CCR standards, teacher development needs, and evidence-based methodologies.

The Coach also assists in identifying and utilizing available resources that align with school needs; communicates district priorities, strategies, and supports; and informs, designs, and facilitates professional development at the district, school, and grade/department levels.


Essential Job Functions:

  • Collaborates with the leadership team alongside the building principal.
  • Assists in conducting needs assessments and program evaluations.
  • Identifies, plans, organizes, and conducts professional development opportunities tailored to school needs; researches, identifies, and models best practices.
  • Supports the Title I school-wide budget process.
  • Guides Title I schools in developing School Improvement Plans (TSIP) concerning regulations, inventory, and professional development research and implementation.
  • Conducts internal audits to ensure compliance with all ESEA (Elementary & Secondary Education Act) requirements.
  • Works closely with the building-level leadership team to develop and implement professional learning communities and sustain the change process necessary for operating as a PLC.
  • Assists teacher teams in creating, administering, and analyzing data from common formative assessments.
  • Supports the building-level leadership team in collecting artifacts such as team norms, meeting agendas, standards documents, common formative assessments, and meeting protocols from teacher teams to monitor and assess their progress.
  • Helps teacher teams develop and implement a school-wide pyramid of interventions based on the results of commonly administered assessments.
  • Assists teacher teams in implementing a guaranteed and viable curriculum by prioritizing, unwrapping standards, and creating common standards and pacing documents.
  • Collects, organizes, and compiles information necessary for reports and evaluations.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or directed.

Minimum Qualifications:


Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Education or a related field, along with a minimum of 5 years of classroom teaching experience is required.

Current educators must possess a TEM level 3, 4, or 5 to qualify. A Master's degree is preferred. A valid Tennessee teaching license is required with an endorsement appropriate to the grade level. Administrator Licensure is preferred.
