Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Academic Advisor to join our team at Collin College. As an Academic Advisor, you will play a critical role in supporting students in achieving their academic goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement academic advising programs for students, including individual and group advising sessions, and new student orientation programs.
  • Advise students on program planning, course selection, schedule changes, transferability, and course withdrawals.
  • Provide guidance on degree plans, transfer guides to university partnerships, and Collin College policies, student handbook rules, and procedures.
  • Perform unofficial degree evaluations to effectively advise incoming transfer students on their remaining courses to fulfill degree requirements.
  • May perform data entry and monitoring of the SEVIS system.
  • Participate in evening advising and provide leadership and supervision for staff.
  • Update the Advising web page and department publications as needed.
  • Assist in developing and implementing new programs for academic advising, including work with programs such as concurrent enrollment, TAA, and study skills classes.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution. A master's degree from an accredited institution is preferred.
  • One year of full-time experience in student development/affairs, which involves academic and career counseling, or two years of part-time experience in student development/affairs, which involves academic and career counseling.
Working Conditions

This is a sedentary position that requires sitting most of the time. Jobs in this class typically require talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, walking, and repetitive motions. The position is located in an office environment with little physical effort required.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $51,710.00 - $62,052.00 per year, depending on experience.

Candidates will be subject to a criminal background check due to the security-sensitive nature of this position.
