Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Nurse Practitioner to join our team at the University of Maryland Faculty Physicians. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and collaborating with physicians to diagnose and treat patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive history and physical assessments for patients, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests as needed.
  • Establish medical diagnoses based on history, assessment, and diagnostic findings, collaborating with physicians as necessary.
  • Design and implement treatment plans, including prescriptions of medications, based on a comprehensive review of patient history and diagnostic results.
  • Provide primary care independently or with attending physicians, adhering to professional practice standards and JCAHO guidelines.
  • Write progress notes in patient charts, indicating patient status and treatment or procedures performed.
  • Provide care to patients in urgent care or walk-in situations, as well as dressing changes and other essential support roles.
Requirements
  • Master of Science degree in Nursing with completion of a Nurse Practitioner program.
  • Registered and currently recorded with the Maryland Board of Examiners of Nurses and Certified as a Nurse Practitioner in the State of Maryland.
  • Valid state APRN Recognition, with education requirements met and obtained within six months of hire.
  • Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and BLS certification by the American Heart Association.
  • DEA and CDS eligibility.
  • A minimum of one year experience as a Registered Nurse, with ability to promote professionalism through involvement in professional organizations, teaching, research, publishing, and/or certification in area of specialty.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the patient population served.
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's requirements relative to his or her population-specific and age-specific needs.
  • Maintains updated mandatory training and updates immunizations as recommended per practice area.
