Medical Technologist II

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Technologist II to join our team at Emory Healthcare. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for performing a variety of complex laboratory tests and procedures, including blood banking and transfusion medicine.
Key Responsibilities- Perform standardized and semi-routine biological, chemical, hematological, immunological, immunohemotological, microbiological, and serological tests in a research or clinical laboratory.
- Provide guidance and training to lower-level technologists and assist in administrative activities, staff education, and research programs.
- Evaluate the validity of test results and compare to previous results and other laboratory data.
- May perform venipuncture or capillary puncture to obtain blood specimens.
- Perform other related duties as required.
- Bachelor's degree in medical technology, clinical lab science, or a related field.
- Two years of medical technology experience, with a background in blood banking.
- Certification by one of the following accreditation agencies: MT (ASCP), MLS (ASCP), or categorical.
- Blood bank experience.
This position requires working in a fast-paced laboratory environment, with frequent standing and walking. The physical demands of this role include lifting up to 50 pounds and carrying objects up to 25 pounds. The environmental factors may include exposure to blood-borne pathogens, bio-hazardous waste, chemicals, and other laboratory hazards.
