Denial Specialist Job Description

Iowa Orthopaedic Center PC is seeking a highly skilled Denial Specialist to join our team. This role is responsible for monitoring and managing Accounts Receivable recovery for our Workers' Compensation insurance carriers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Monitor and respond to insurance questions and inquiries
  • Work with patient accounts to resolve billing and payment issues
  • Manage Clearinghouse rejections and denials
  • Perform special projects and tasks as assigned
  • Review and approve payer and patient refund requests
  • Conduct audits and adjustments for prompt pay, admin, and work comp
  • Assist with other duties as assigned
Requirements:
  • Knowledge of daily, monthly, and yearly processes for insurance patient account representatives
  • Understanding of CPT, ICD-9, and HCPC for auditing accounts
  • Prior experience with workers' compensation preferred
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Basic computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to work with web tools, fee schedules, and insurance correspondence
