Developmental Support Worker

Job Summary:
Catholic Charities is seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Developmental Support Worker to join our team. As a key member of our residential services team, you will provide direct care and coordination to individuals with intellectual, developmental, and/or physical disabilities in a residential setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Direct Care:
- Provide daily living assistance, including cleaning, maintaining, and participating in the upkeep of the home and properties.
- Assist individuals with meal planning, preparation, and serving, as well as participating in leisure time and recreational activities.
- Support individuals in developing new social opportunities and experiences.
- Cope effectively with social, emotional, and physical situations.
- Documentation and Communication:
- Accumulate and record data relevant to behavioral programs, review individuals' progress, developmental needs, and barriers impeding progress.
- Identify and prioritize individuals' needs.
- Complete comprehensive documentation.
- Report seizures, behavioral episodes, and other medically or emotionally related problems to the house manager, supervisor, nurse, and team members.
- Trainings and Compliance:
- Attend and successfully complete all mandatory trainings and meetings required by DDS and the agency.
- Attend and successfully complete scheduled Medical Certification.
- Maintain Medical Certification annually.
- Confidentiality and HIPAA:
- Maintain and safeguard individuals' private information, including diagnoses, health records, and program documentation.
- Additional Responsibilities:
- Complete tasks related to work assigned by management individually or as a team.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma with 2 years of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities. AA/AS preferred.
- Must have Medical Certification or be able to obtain Medical Certification upon the next available Med Cert Course immediately following hire.
- Demonstrates organizational ability, communicates effectively with individuals served and members of the team.
- Applicants will be subject to criminal and driving history background checks. Must have a valid Connecticut driver's license with no more than 2 violations in a three-year period, subject to review. Drivers History completed annually.
