Position Title: Intelligence Operations Analyst I

Location: State of Florida

Agency: Department of Law Enforcement

Department: Public Safety Services / Office of Statewide Services

Role Overview:

This role is situated within the Strategic Justice Programs Office of Statewide Services. The position entails a commitment of up to 40 hours per week, focusing on projects related to sexual offenders/predators and missing persons. The successful candidate will be expected to efficiently process and organize information, draft correspondence and summaries, and analyze various criminal justice data sources.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Conducting queries on public and secure databases to research and retrieve court and arrest records, as well as identifying the appropriate agencies for requests.
  2. Uploading necessary documentation to the Sexual Offender and Predator System (SOPS) and verifying the accuracy of received information.
  3. Monitoring record requests and managing email communications with the public and other criminal justice entities.
  4. Providing administrative support, research assistance, and training to other programs as required.
  5. Participating in the Missing Endangered Persons Information Clearinghouse (MEPIC) Advisory Board meetings and related events.
  6. Drafting correspondence, coordinating conference calls, and taking notes during meetings to support advisory bodies.
  7. Engaging in public safety events to promote child safety initiatives.
  8. Compiling and disseminating relevant information to the criminal justice community and the public.
  9. Reviewing and addressing discrepancies in criminal justice data, notifying supervisors for necessary corrections.

Minimum Qualifications:

A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution is required. Relevant experience in criminal intelligence, military intelligence, national or homeland security intelligence, crime analysis, or within a law enforcement agency may substitute for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Understanding of fundamental principles and practices in law enforcement and the criminal justice system.
  • Proficiency in report writing techniques and familiarity with Microsoft products.
  • Strong problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Clear and concise communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Capability to prioritize tasks and ensure timely completion of assignments.
  • Proficient in operating personal computers and networked communication systems.
  • Ability to collect, compile, organize, and analyze data or conduct research.
  • Independent decision-making skills.
  • Competence in writing reports and investigative summaries based on analytical findings.

Compensation:

The base salary for this position is commensurate with experience, starting at $20.68 per hour for candidates with a bachelor's degree and one year of analytical experience.

Special Notes:

Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate strong critical thinking skills, analytical research capabilities, and experience in developing and delivering presentations and training. Excellent multi-tasking abilities are essential. This position may require working outside of normal business hours during critical incidents or emergencies.
