Senior Mammography Technologist

The Senior Mammography Technologist is a seasoned professional with exceptional collaboration and leadership skills. In this role, the incumbent will provide daily guidance and mentorship to a team of technologists, ensuring quality assurance in mammography and bone density studies. The successful candidate will be responsible for patient care, imaging procedures, and quality control measures.

• Greet and interact with patients, visitors, and staff in a professional manner.
• Perform mammography and bone density studies, as well as general radiological procedures.
• Review imaging requests for appropriateness and collaborate with radiologists and referring physicians as needed.
• Position patients and select optimal imaging options to ensure high-quality results.
• Monitor patient status and intervene as necessary.
• Judge the diagnostic quality of finished medical images.
• Provide detailed explanations of diagnostic procedures to patients and answer questions.
• Assist radiologists with stereotactic core biopsies and maintain accurate documentation.
• Operate and maintain equipment, including logbook maintenance and quality assurance measures.
• Perform clerical duties related to patient records and participate in quality improvement initiatives.
• Assist with onboarding and training of new technologists and share knowledge to promote team collaboration.
• Participate in debriefing and quality improvement practices to ensure quality patient care.

• High school graduate or equivalency.
• Minimum 5 years' relevant experience, including exposure to a wide range of mammography and bone density studies.
• NYS License, ARRT, and mammography certification.
• Current BLS required.
• Leadership proficiency in a team environment, including communication, training/knowledge-sharing, and problem-solving skills.
• Participation in continuous improvement or quality initiatives.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to deescalate stressful situations.
• Strong aptitude for detail, flexibility, punctuality, and ability to work independently.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make sound judgments and execute appropriate actions.
• Basic proficiency in computer skills, including Electronic Health Systems, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and email systems.
