Senior Mammography Technologist

The Senior Mammography Technologist is a seasoned professional with exceptional collaboration and leadership skills. In this role, the incumbent will provide guidance and mentorship to a team of technologists, ensuring quality assurance in the acquisition, processing, and archiving of mammography and bone density studies. The successful candidate will be responsible for patient care while in the imaging area, demonstrating a strong ability to deescalate stressful situations.

• Greet and interact with patients, visitors, vendors, and staff, providing excellent customer service.
• Perform mammography and bone density studies, as well as general radiological procedures, with attention to detail and quality.
• Review imaging requests for appropriateness, collaborating with radiologists and referring physicians as needed.
• Position patients and select optimal imaging options to ensure best-case results.
• Monitor patient status and intervene as necessary, maintaining a safe and supportive environment.
• Judge diagnostic quality of finished medical images, ensuring accuracy and clarity.
• Communicate complex diagnostic procedures to patients, addressing their questions and concerns.
• Assist radiologists with stereotactic core biopsies, ensuring thorough documentation and patient care.
• Operate and maintain equipment, maintaining logbooks and records for inspections and quality control.
• Perform clerical duties related to patient records, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
• Support the onboarding and training of new technologists, sharing knowledge and expertise to foster a collaborative environment.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives, contributing to a culture of safety and excellence.

• High school graduate or equivalency.
• Minimum 5 years' relevant experience, including exposure to diverse mammography and bone density studies.
• NYS License, ARRT, and mammography certification.
• Current BLS certification.
• Proven leadership skills, including communication, training, and problem-solving abilities.
• Participation in continuous improvement initiatives.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a strong ability to deescalate stressful situations.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and flexibility.
