Job Title: Medical Technologist

UNC Health is seeking a skilled Medical Technologist to join their team in Smithfield, North Carolina.

About the Role

This position is responsible for performing various patient testing and administrative tasks in support of the clinical activities in the UNC Healthcare System.

Key Responsibilities
  • Investigate problems with equipment, test results, specimens, and/or workflow.
  • Participate on teams or perform special projects/assignments.
  • Perform quality control and equipment maintenance in the appropriate laboratory.
  • Prepare specimens and reagents, solutions, heat, or filters as required.
  • Report results to healthcare providers and consult/confere with them regarding test results.
  • Review test results to ensure accuracy of report and timely correction of errors.
Requirements

This position requires a Bachelor's of Science degree and eligibility to sit for the MT exam within 12 months of hire. Certification must be obtained within one year of becoming exam eligible.

This position is employed by NC Health (Rex Healthcare, Inc., d/b/a NC Health), a private, fully-owned subsidiary of UNC Health Care System.
