Key Responsibilities
  • Education and Risk Management: Discern, evaluate, and communicate risks associated with participation in athletics, ensuring the health and safety of our student-athletes.
  • Evaluation and Treatment: Evaluate student-athlete injuries and conditions, providing standard immediate care procedures for emergency situations during event coverage.
  • Treatment and Rehabilitation: Determine appropriate treatment, rehabilitation, and reconditioning strategies for student-athletes, considering age-specific criteria and psychosocial, community, family, and healthcare support system influences.
  • Administrative Duties: Administer athletic training policies and procedures, managing the athletic training inventory and supplies, maintaining comprehensive medical records, and making appropriate referrals.
  • Supervision and Education: Assist with the supervision and education of student first aid staff, ensuring they are equipped to provide quality care and support.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a sports-related discipline.
  • Certification as an Athletic Trainer (AT) by the Board of Certification, in good standing.
  • Licensed, or eligible for licensure under the Department of Health for the State of Rhode Island.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to function in a service- and team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to function independently, display strong attention to detail, work under pressure, meet deadlines, and prioritize multiple projects.
  • Ability to travel as required.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Ability to work on nights, weekends, and some holidays as requested.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree from a curriculum athletic training program.
