Job Description

Elk Ridge Health & Rehabilitation Center is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Resident Assistant to join our team. As a Resident Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional care and support to our residents, ensuring their physical, emotional, and social needs are met.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as grooming, bathing, and dressing, as requested by residents or directed by supervisor.
  • Attend to the personal care needs of residents in a timely manner, promoting dignity and respect at all times.
  • Regularly review, follow, and adhere to residents' service plans, ensuring their individual needs are met.
  • Document and report care provided and resident observations, maintaining accurate and detailed records.
  • Perform vital signs and heights and weights, as required, and report any changes or concerns to the supervisor.
  • Respond to emergency calls in a timely manner, providing immediate assistance and support as needed.
  • Monitor the safety and well-being of residents, reporting any concerns or incidents to the supervisor.
  • Reports changes in resident status, health, or otherwise to supervisor, ensuring prompt attention and support.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of infection control and universal precautions, maintaining a clean and safe environment for residents.
  • Provide information, encourage, and participate with residents in activity-focused programs, promoting socialization and engagement.
  • May be asked to provide assistance to residents in Assisted Living and/or Memory Care, as needed.
Requirements:
  • Effectively communicate in the English language and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • High School diploma or GED (preferred).
  • 6-months experience in a senior living community (preferred).
  • Valid Adult Basic First Aid and CPR Certification (preferred).
Work Environment:
  • Moves intermittently during working hours.
  • Is subject to frequent interruptions.
  • Is involved with residents, personnel, visitors, government agencies/personnel, etc., under all conditions and circumstances.
  • Is subject to hostile and emotionally upset residents, family members, etc.
  • Works beyond normal duty hours, on weekends, and in other positions temporarily, when necessary.
  • Is subject to call back during emergency conditions (e.g., severe weather, evacuation, post-disaster, etc.).
  • Is subject to injury from falls, burns from equipment, odors, etc., through out the workday, as well as reactions from dust, disinfectants, tobacco smoke, and other air contaminants.
  • Is subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including TB and the AIDS and Hepatitis B viruses.
  • May be subject to the handling of and exposure to hazardous chemicals.
