Position Overview: Reporting directly to the Field Manager, the Turf Management Supervisor plays a crucial role in overseeing the maintenance and care of the playing field and adjacent landscaped areas. This role includes supervising part-time staff and interns hired by the Grounds Department. The Turf Management Supervisor is tasked with ensuring the field meets the high standards set by Major League Baseball (MLB), AEG, and the Director of Field Operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the recruitment, training, and management of seasonal part-time staff and internship candidates.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and document expenses to assist in managing the assigned budget.
  • Keep a detailed record of all pesticide and fertilizer applications.
  • Supervise daily operations required for maintaining a professional-grade field, including advanced turf management and proper application of pesticides and fertilizers.
  • Assist in preparing the field for all baseball-related events and manage requests from players and coaching staff.
  • Coordinate all field activities on game days and non-game days, including preparations for MLB games, concerts, and community events.
  • Help maintain all equipment to ensure longevity and optimal performance.
  • In the absence of the Director of Field Operations or Field Manager, assume responsibility for all field activities and staff management, ensuring effective communication with front office personnel, coaches, and players.
  • Perform any additional duties necessary to support the operations of the Field Management Department.

Qualifications:
  • Associate or Bachelor's Degree in Turf Management, Plant Science, Soil Science, or Agronomy.
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of essential turf management practices, including mowing, aerification, and irrigation.
  • A minimum of 2-3 years of experience managing a natural grass playing surface in a professional or collegiate sports environment.
  • Active membership in the Sports Field Management Association is preferred.
  • Supervisory experience is advantageous.
  • Certification as a Certified Sports Field Manager is desirable.

Skills and Abilities:
  • In-depth knowledge of agronomy and turfgrass management practices, including pest and weed management.
  • Experience with irrigation systems and repairs.
  • Ability to operate various equipment safely, including mowers and tractors.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to plan proactively.
  • Capacity to meet deadlines and adapt to changing schedules and environmental conditions.
  • Budget management skills are a plus.
  • Must be able to obtain a Pesticide Applicators License and comply with all regulations.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and strong communication skills are essential.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Compensation: The anticipated annual salary range for this role is $55,000 - $64,000, with actual pay determined by qualifications and experience.
