Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled Patient Account Representative to join our team in Helena, MT.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure timely and accurate billing by performing pre-billing and billing functions, adhering to insurance carrier guidelines and facility compliance regulations.
  • Collaborate with team members to guarantee accurate and prompt billing.
  • Collect outstanding balances from insurance companies efficiently by applying collection best practices.
  • Utilize A/R reports to target aged balances for collection, meeting performance goals.
  • Evaluate partial payments to determine further reimbursement validity.
  • Compose denial arguments for reconsideration, including written and telephonic submissions.
  • Overcome payment objections and gain commitment through concise appeal arguments.
  • Escalate exhausted appeals to leadership.
  • Submit retro authorizations within insurance carrier guidelines.
  • Research and take necessary action to follow up on unpaid claims using ATB's and work lists.
  • Analyze insurance payments received to verify account accuracy per contract, contacting insurance for reprocessing if necessary.
  • Maintain effective documentation standards supporting historical record actions taken on accounts.
  • Review and follow through on credit balances via take back initiation, refund initiation, and/or payment re-application.
  • Report Medicare credits quarterly to Medicare, providing supporting documentation.
  • Log and adjust Medicare bad debt cancels for year-end financial reports.
  • Process patient and insurance correspondence timely, responding and documenting in accounts for future reference.
  • Foster Gold Standard Customer Service by adhering to quality assurance guidelines and productivity standards.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in insurance billing regulations and understanding insurance contracts (preferred but not mandatory).
  • Knowledge of state and federal regulations related to the billing process (preferred but not mandatory).
  • Proficient keyboard/10 key skills and working knowledge of computers required.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong data entry, 10 key skills, and working knowledge of computers required.
  • Exceptional customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Able to examine documents for accuracy and completeness.
  • Ability to multitask and manage time effectively.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Compensation: $45,000 - $65,000 per year based on experience and qualifications. Please note that salary estimates may vary depending on factors such as location, industry, and specific job requirements.
