Position Overview:
As a Research Engineer or Research Scientist specializing in Applied Finetuning, you will be integral to the training of models utilizing Claude.AI and our public API.
This role will require you to innovate and refine state-of-the-art finetuning methodologies, including Constitutional AI and Reinforcement Learning from Human Feedback (RLHF), to enhance the training processes of our production models. You will also conduct experiments, create evaluations, and improve our model training protocols.
In this position, you will have the chance to contribute to pioneering research while having a direct impact on the success of the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and optimize finetuning workflows for the effective training of language models using advanced methodologies such as Constitutional AI.
- Design innovative prompts and techniques to improve model performance and behavior.
- Collaborate with various research teams to incorporate new finetuning approaches into our model training framework, ensuring ethical and beneficial outcomes.
- Create and implement new assessments to evaluate the reasoning capabilities of Claude.
- Work alongside a research team to establish a comprehensive evaluation for a new model capability currently under development.
- Keep abreast of the latest advancements in AI and machine learning research to suggest their application in production environments.
- Additional qualifications include:
- Experience in fine-tuning large language models through supervised or reinforcement learning.
- Familiarity with complex shared codebases and reinforcement learning infrastructure.
- Publication of research papers in machine learning, natural language processing, or AI alignment.
Compensation and Benefits:
Anthropic Limited provides a competitive salary range of $280,000 to $485,000 USD, along with a comprehensive benefits package. Benefits for US-based employees include optional equity donation matching, health insurance, a 401(k) plan, parental leave, unlimited paid time off, and various stipends. Employees based in the UK receive similar benefits tailored to their location.
