TekCom Resources, Inc. is seeking a Telecommunications Permitting Expert. This position is a long-term contract role requiring in-office presence four days a week, with the flexibility to work remotely on Fridays.

Our client is a reputable tier one vendor with over 25 years of experience in managing and operating network assets. They currently oversee a vast network of fiber routes and small cells.

The Telecommunications Permitting Expert is responsible for obtaining and securing all necessary licenses and permits for the timely and budget-conscious construction of fiber and small cell networks. This role ensures adherence to all relevant agreements and regulatory standards throughout the phases of site selection, construction, and ongoing operations. Key responsibilities include the precise and timely submission of applications for required licenses, permits, and commercial electric service connections. The Expert will track application timelines, predict the expected receipt of authorizations, and facilitate the escalation of any delays, both internally and externally, as needed. A solid understanding of applicable state and federal regulations, relevant construction codes, and processes is essential, along with frequent collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders. The Expert must also initiate timely updates to systems and communicate effectively, developing a high level of operational expertise and proposing jurisdictional permitting and zoning solutions to both internal and external customers. Familiarity with municipal processes, codes, and ordinances, as well as regular interaction with local governments and jurisdictions, is required.

Key Responsibilities:Review technical drawings for compliance with jurisdictional and utility standards.Submit and secure necessary authorizations, approvals, and agreements from jurisdictions and utilities for facility installations in public rights-of-way and on private properties.Address challenges to ensure the successful, timely, and cost-effective acquisition of authorizations or service connections, including resolving application rejections or denials.Maintain timely system updates, including accurate forecasting and milestone task completion.Communicate effectively with all stakeholders during all phases of network deployment and operations.Develop and nurture strong relationships with utility and jurisdictional stakeholders.
Experience and Qualifications:A minimum of two (2) years of experience in planning, zoning, land use, utility joint use, telecommunications, or relevant military experience.Proven ability to navigate corporate environments and collaborate effectively with various stakeholders.
Expectations:Exceptional oral and written communication skills, including negotiation experience.Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple competing tasks.Ability to understand contracts and agreements.Demonstrated capability to collaborate effectively and present compelling arguments to achieve desired outcomes.Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.Attention to detail and a customer service-oriented approach with strong problem-solving skills.Knowledge of relevant codes and regulations related to licensing and permitting for fiber and small cells.Proficient in delivering presentations and speaking at both internal and external engagements.Willingness to travel to utilities, local governments, and municipalities as required.
Working Conditions: This role operates within a hybrid work model, requiring in-office attendance from Monday to Thursday, with the option to work from home or the office on Fridays. Collaboration with teammates and stakeholders is expected, which may necessitate travel.
