Medical Assistant Coordinator

As a Medical Assistant Coordinator at Memorial Healthcare, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our clinical departments. Under the supervision of the Clinical Manager, you will collaborate with government agencies, Joint Commission, and regional Health Departments to maintain compliance and excellence in patient care. Your responsibilities will include creating staff training programs, ensuring clinical staff competency, and promoting a safe environment for patients and staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement training programs for new Medical Assistants and existing staff members.
- Assist with competency assessments and skill validation for clinical staff.
- Provide training and support for EMR implementation and updates.
- Coordinate and execute enrollment and training of staff members on State of Michigan MCIR website.
- Apply for and update State of Michigan CLIA applications.
- Coordinate NetLearning (Symplr) modules and assign and validate as appropriate.
- Assist with notification and follow-up to ensure removal of recalled items in clinics.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Certificate of completion of Medical Assistant program and current credentialing through AAMA, AMT, NHA, AAH, or NCCT.
- Current Basic Life Support certification required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of three (3) year medical office experience with progressive clinical leadership responsibilities.
- Demonstrated ability to professionally relate to medical staff, administration, and staff.
- Understanding of day-to-day clinical operations in a physician practice, including inventory control and efficient operations.
Essential Physical Abilities/Motor Skills
- Able to travel independently throughout all Memorial Healthcare facilities.
- Small motor skills required for operating modern computer, office, and telephone equipment.
- Ability to exert manual effort in transporting materials, equipment, and/or patients.
- Ability to perform moderate amounts of walking, stretching, and bending.
Essential Technical Abilities
Proficiency using modern office, computer, and telephone equipment as used by Memorial Healthcare.
Essential Mental Abilities
- Ability to adapt and maintain focus and professional composure in fast-paced, quickly changing, or stressful situations.
- Ability to read and interpret a variety of documents, including policies, operating instructions, white papers, regulations, rules, and laws.
- Professional verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining accuracy.
Essential Sensory Requirements
- Able to see for the purpose of reading information received in formats including but not limited to paper, computer, reports, bulletins, updates, manuals.
- Able to see and hear for work-related purposes.
Interpersonal Skills
- Ability to interact with co-workers, hospital staff, administration, patients, physicians, the public, and all internal and external customers in a professional and effective, courteous, and tactful manner, at all times, physically, verbally, and in all written and electronic communication.
