About the Position:

This is an open continuous announcement for a Practical Nurse position at Military Treatment Facilities under DHA. Multiple vacancies exist and may be filled from this announcement at any of the locations listed. Job Summary:

The Practical Nurse will provide direct patient care and support to healthcare teams in a variety of settings. This includes obtaining information from patients, documenting medical records, assisting with examinations and diagnostic procedures, and performing patient education on self-care procedures and treatment plans.

Responsibilities:
  • Obtain information from patients and identify major complaints, symptoms, or reason for seeking healthcare.
  • Document information on patient medical records using an automated healthcare system.
  • Assist clinical staff with various examinations and diagnostic procedures.
  • Perform patient education on self-care procedures, treatment plans, vaccine adverse reactions, and medication maintenance.
  • Assist clinical staff with administrative duties such as coordination of follow-up appointments.
Requirements:
  • A current license to practice as a practical or vocational nurse in a State, territory of the United States, or the District of Columbia.
  • One year of nursing experience in a hospital, outpatient clinic, nursing home, or other supervised medical, nursing, or patient care facility.
Working Conditions:

This position may require the incumbent to work during irregular work hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and/or varying work schedules. The position may also require the incumbent to work on call during irregular work hours.
