EAD Management Services Inc. is seeking a skilled Controls Engineer to serve as the internal expert for control systems on projects for key clients in the food, pharmaceutical, and logistics industries. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of electrical and control philosophies, particularly with various PLCs and subsystems. This role requires both independent work and collaboration within a team setting. You will assist in the design and development of systems to meet contract specifications, while interacting with Electrical, Mechanical, Project Management, and Field teams during the design, procurement, and installation phases.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define project scope and design control systems and instrumentation based on client specifications.
  • Program control systems as needed.
  • Collaborate with clients, vendors, and project teams.
  • Conduct technical design reviews with multidisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality outcomes.
  • Manage and execute projects efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Prioritize tasks to meet project timelines and budget constraints.
  • Adhere to all safety standards and practices.
  • Engage in continuous learning of customer-specific electrical and control specifications.
  • Analyze complex project requirements and design control system architecture accordingly.
  • Review electrical documentation and provide recommendations for design and procurement.
  • Oversee the selection and procurement of electrical components and create project BOMs.
  • Collaborate with panel fabricators on control cabinet design and implementation.
  • Prepare electrical sections for project maintenance manuals.
  • Ensure adherence to project budgets and prepare cost analyses.
  • Stay updated on new technologies and evaluate electrical components for enhanced functionality.
  • Maintain and improve current engineering procedures and tools.
  • Provide engineering support for field startup personnel.
  • Generate cost estimates for proposed projects.
  • Create necessary documentation for the sales process and proposals.
  • Assist in developing Request for Proposal packages and review supplier responses.

Qualifications:

  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills for effective decision-making.
  • Experience in HMI or SCADA programming with software such as Wonderware, Rockwell, or Siemens.
  • Thorough knowledge of electrical theory and control systems.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and familiar with scripting and programming.
  • Ability to mentor junior engineers.
  • Familiarity with NEC, NFPA, and UL508A standards.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent communication and time management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and adapt to changing priorities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field; military experience may be considered.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in automation and electrical controls.
  • Knowledge of relevant codes and standards is a plus.

Working Conditions:

  • Physical ability to navigate various environments, including tight spaces.
  • Potential exposure to mechanical parts and industrial settings.
