Job Description

The Hotel Operations Manager is the key leader of a small but relatively complex business. This individual has a wide range of management responsibilities coupled with the day-to-day supervision of full-time and part-time personnel which may include front desk clerks/guest service representatives, lead room attendants, room attendants, maintenance, laundry, shuttle drivers, breakfast hosts and swimming pool lifeguards.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Strategic planning and development of the hotel's overall business strategy.
  • Human Resource Management, including recruitment, training, and development of staff.
  • Safety and Security protocols to ensure a secure environment for guests and staff.
  • Quality assurance to maintain high standards of service and facilities.
  • Providing and ensuring effective maintenance of property, including equipment and facilities.
  • Community relations and building brand loyalty through excellent customer service.
  • Accounting and payroll duties, including cash handling and financial management.
  • Assist in Sales and Marketing efforts to promote the hotel and increase revenue.
  • Decision Making and problem-solving to address operational challenges.
  • Effective Communication with staff, guests, and stakeholders to ensure seamless operations.
  • Awareness of Competition and market trends to stay ahead in the industry.
  • Must be able to perform all duties of the front desk/guest services representative, night auditor, laundry staff, room attendants, shuttle drivers, maintenance and breakfast host positions.

Job Requirements

  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office, and ability to learn new systems.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills to effectively interact with staff and guests.
  • Excellent multi-task and organization skills to manage multiple responsibilities.
  • Good understanding of engineering principles to ensure effective maintenance and repairs.
  • Must be reliable, professional, consistent, and serious about the tasks at hand.
  • Excellent attention to detail to ensure high standards of service and facilities.

Physical Demands

  • Able to drive a vehicle and travel by airplane for business purposes.
  • Able to inspect all of the hotel premises to ensure safety and quality standards.
  • Able to assist guests in emergency situations and provide support as needed.
  • Able to perform duties of all hotel positions to ensure seamless operations.

Licenses or Certification

  • Valid driver's license and insurability for driving.

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as hospitality or business administration.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position will supervise all staff at the hotel, providing guidance and support to ensure excellent service and operations.


Travel

Occasional overnight travel will be required for business purposes, such as attending industry events and conferences.


Safety Requirements

Must be aware and conform to all safety requirements when in the facility, operating motor vehicles, or in the field performing duties for the company.
