Control Systems Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Control Engineer to join our team at Alpha Baking. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient operation of our plant maintenance personnel, machinery, and support systems.
Key Responsibilities- Manage and oversee the maintenance personnel to ensure they are working efficiently and effectively.
- Ensure that all machinery and support systems are operating at maximum efficiency and are properly maintained.
- Develop and implement a preventive maintenance (PM) program and schedule to minimize downtime and ensure optimal performance.
- Maintain a positive working relationship with all departments and ensure that all employees are following company and OSHA rules and regulations.
- Oversee the training and cross-training of mechanics in performing a wide range of mechanical and electrical repairs on various equipment.
- Assist with training efforts as needed and ensure that all mechanics are properly trained and certified.
- Be available to work during off-shifts and be contacted during off-hours in case of emergencies or breakdowns.
- Oversee the completion of project jobs from preparing BOM lists to completed jobs.
- Ensure that all mechanics, visitors, contractors, and employees on the assigned shift are following all company and OSHA rules and regulations.
- Administer disciplinary action in accordance with company policy where needed.
- Work closely with the line leaders, supervisor, and manager to identify and resolve repetitive line problems.
- Communicate in a timely manner all pertinent issues and notify the Quality Assurance Manager of any potential food safety risks.
- Oversee the scheduling of work for all maintenance personnel on the shift.
- Communicate and administer all company policies and procedures consistently.
- High School Diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
- Electrical - better than average troubleshooting knowledge of 3-phase 480VAC, control circuits of 110VAC and 24DC, AB PLCs.
- Welding - able to weld with TIG and stick.
- Cutting - torch, band saw, grinder, plasma cutter.
- Fabricating - able to fabricate simple guards, covers, catch pans, etc.
- Drilling/Milling - knowledge of use: power drills, dill press, mill, and lathe machines.
- MS Office - fluent in MS Outlook, MS Excel, MS Word.
- Good communication and leadership skills.
- 5 years of experience in a manufacturing setting, bakery experience preferred.
- 5 years of prior Supervisory/Management experience.
- Better than average knowledge of maintenance functions such as electrical, electrical controls, PLCs, plumbing, conveyors, motors/gearboxes, read schematics/blueprints.
The successful candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent exposure to high ambient temperatures. The ability to work on feet for the entire shift and perform tasks requiring standing, lifting, pulling, and climbing of machinery and/or tooling is essential.
