Job Summary:

The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) is a registered nurse with advanced education and training in a specific clinical area. The CNS assumes responsibility and accountability for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care of patients in the Emergency Department (ED).

Key Responsibilities:

Assess patients' psychological and physical needs
Develop individualized treatment plans
Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams
Participate in clinical team conferences
Comply with evaluation, treatment, and documentation guidelines

Requirements:

Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing
Current license as a Registered Nurse in the state of practice
Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS-HCP) certification
ACLS/NRP/PALS certification as appropriate for the unit or service

Physical Requirements:

Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies
Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately
Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy
Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients
Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment
