Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Railway Bridge Project Engineer to join our team at Alfred Benesch & Co. As a key member of our Railroad-Bridge team, you will play a pivotal role in contributing to strategic initiatives to advance our Railroad Division's growth in the region.

About the Role

The ideal candidate will be an experienced rail professional with a solid technical design background. In addition to technical expertise, the perfect candidate will demonstrate strong communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving. As a Project Engineer within our Railroad-Bridge team, you will be responsible for performing basic analysis of project elements, performing load development designing calculations of project elements, and checking work. You will also prepare organized structural calculations, design and draft structural elements and details, develop task deliverables in a complete and reviewable manner, perform tasks on schedule and within budget as assigned, and work independently under the guidance of a Project Manager.

Key Responsibilities

- Performing basic analysis of project elements
- Performing load development designing calculations of project elements, and checking work
- Preparing organized structural calculations
- Designing and drafting structural elements and details
- Developing task deliverables in a complete and reviewable manner
- Performing tasks on schedule and within budget as assigned
- Working independently under the guidance of a Project Manager

Requirements

- BS in Civil Engineering with a structural emphasis or related discipline
- PE License or ability to obtain through reciprocity
- Minimum of 5 years of structural design experience
- Experience working with Florida DOT preferred
- Excellent communication and client relation skills
- Progressive experience with developing plans and specifications utilizing Microstation
- Strong organization and leadership skills with a track record for adhering to design budgets and schedules
- Ability to perform complex analysis and design
- Ability to assemble a complete design package for assigned elements or projects
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
