Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize professional engineering principles to develop and modify facilities, systems, processes, or equipment as required. Manage projects effectively while adhering to budgetary and time constraints, overseeing Engineers or Technicians on standard projects.
  • Engineer, design, and construct prototype and production machinery, developing processes to assess performance, safety, maintenance, and compliance with federal guidelines and ergonomic standards. Provide recommendations for enhanced designs or processes.
  • Conduct performance evaluations on production equipment and processes to track yield rates, operational ease, and overall efficiency continuously. Collaborate with management and production teams to determine necessary actions based on findings. Regularly update production staff on equipment and process assessments during monthly meetings.
  • Coordinate with Engineers and Production teams to design processes for launching new products or extending lines due to new equipment or tools. Provide management with project updates and documentation.
  • Generate innovative ideas for processes, production equipment, or tools. Apply engineering fundamentals to guide projects, preparing conceptual designs using 2D or 3D computer modeling. Collaborate with Engineers, Production representatives, and Maintenance personnel to lead process design reviews.
  • Design and build prototypes of production equipment and tools to ensure manufacturing capabilities. Complete all necessary documentation supporting design changes or modifications.
  • Oversee the construction of prototypes for processes, equipment, or tools. Manage testing of prototypes and analyze results. Convene project members to discuss findings and refine prototype designs to meet desired outcomes.
  • Engage with Equipment Operators and Maintenance Technicians to troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues while assisting in repair efforts.
  • Conduct cost analyses for all proposed modifications to manufacturing processes and equipment. Formally oversee and present planning, costing, and timelines for new projects to relevant stakeholders.
  • Analyze and track all capital expenditures related to production equipment or processes, submitting all cost data to management.
  • Perform any additional responsibilities as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

  • Fundamental understanding of PLC (Programmable Logic Controls) design systems and capabilities.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required.
  • Basic proficiency in computer applications such as Word and Excel.
  • Strong foundation in electrical, mechanical, and industrial engineering principles.
  • Thorough understanding of engineering principles for developing and modifying components and systems.
  • Knowledge of material selection and determination for production equipment and tool design.
  • Expertise in machinery design, process improvement methodologies, and industrial processes.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the full product line being manufactured.
  • Solid understanding of safe operational principles for each piece of production equipment.
  • Expertise in machining, enabling the design and construction of equipment parts or machines using the most economical and durable materials.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective collaboration with Engineers, suppliers, and other departments.
  • Solid project management knowledge from conceptual design to implementation.
  • Experience in taking components from conceptual design to prototyping, evaluation, modification, and the development of work instructions and troubleshooting.
