About the Role:

The Dispensing Pharmacist is a critical member of our team, responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely dispensing of prescribed medication to patients. This role requires a Tennessee licensed pharmacist who can verify prescriptions, maintain physical stock, and ensure compliance with Standard Operating Procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Verify prescriptions for accuracy, standard compliance, dosing or dosage form errors, and adjust documentation and labeling as needed.
  • Assure the workflow is optimized and provide input into the development of standards, policies, and procedures for achieving and maintaining high-quality patient care.
  • Check and verify Rx labels, drug names, strengths, dosage forms, and quantities with dispensed medications.
  • Maintain proper control and care of drug supplies and equipment, following SOP for out-of-stock notification.
  • Monitor established quality assurance measurements for the department to meet objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Sign and approve all compounded dispenses and sign log sheets for checking prepack labels prior to release for dispensing.
  • Assist in pharmacy end-of-day closing and verify SOPs have been followed.

Requirements:

  • Pharmacy degree from an accredited college of pharmacy.
  • Licensed as a Pharmacist in Tennessee.
  • Ability to participate in Federal prescription programs.
  • Self-directed, but also able to work well in a group.
  • Ability to solve problems and encourage others in collaborative problem solving.
  • Work ethic that is focused, accurate, and highly productive.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Proficient with computers.
  • Accurate with strong attention to detail.
  • Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Ability to maintain control in stressful situations and offer leadership as needed.
  • Ability to recognize the needs and concerns of others resulting in constructive working relationships.
  • Currently in compliance with mandatory continuing education requirements.
