Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Special Education Teacher to join our team near San Marcos, California. As a Special Education Teacher, you will play a pivotal role in developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) that cater to the unique needs of each student.
- Develop Effective IEPs: Collaborate with parents, administrators, and other relevant stakeholders to create comprehensive IEPs that address students' diverse needs.
- Adapt Instructional Strategies: Modify instructional materials and techniques to accommodate various learning styles, abilities, and disabilities.
- Provide Direct Instruction: Deliver engaging and interactive lessons to students, utilizing evidence-based teaching methods and assistive technology as necessary.
- Monitor Student Progress: Regularly assess students' strengths and areas for improvement, adjusting instructional strategies accordingly.
- Collaborate with General Education Teachers: Support the inclusion of students with special needs in the general education curriculum and provide necessary accommodations.
- Foster a Positive Classroom Environment: Promote social-emotional development, self-advocacy, and independence among students.
- Work with Support Staff: Collaborate with speech therapists, occupational therapists, and behavior specialists to address students' individual needs.
- Communicate with Parents: Regularly update parents or guardians on student progress, discuss strategies for support, and involve them in the educational process.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, you must possess:
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree: In Special Education or a related field.
- State Teaching Certification/Licensure: In Special Education.
- Experience: Working as a Special Education Teacher or in a similar role preferred.
- Strong Understanding: Of special education laws, policies, and best practices.
- Knowledge: Of various disabilities and effective strategies for individualized instruction.
- Excellent Communication Skills: Ability to collaborate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Patient and Empathetic: A genuine desire to make a positive impact on students' lives.
- Strong Organizational Skills: Ability to effectively manage diverse student needs and responsibilities.
