Overview:
The Clinician in Respiratory Care is accountable for delivering pulmonary treatment to critically ill, non-critical, and chronically ill patients across various age groups, including adults, children, and neonates, under the supervision of a physician with limited oversight.
This role involves conducting patient evaluations and implementing respiratory care strategies. The clinician will execute a range of technical and diagnostic respiratory therapy tasks throughout the healthcare facility.Key Responsibilities:
- Responsibilities encompass, but are not restricted to: Emergency response (Code Blue and White); Management of airways, including nasotracheal and endotracheal suctioning; Administration of aerosolized medications; Operation and management of ventilators;
- Oral hygiene practices; Placement and upkeep of airway retaining devices; Management of airway support devices such as BiPAP and CPAP; Administration of oxygen delivery systems and therapeutic monitoring; Analysis of chest films; Collection and assessment of blood gases; EKG interpretation; Thorough and precise documentation; Maintenance and organization of equipment and supplies as required; Participation in CAP and JC evaluations.
- Registered Respiratory Therapists (RRTs) may take on the role of Shift Leader or Team Leader as needed.
- Advanced practice competencies may include: Management and monitoring of therapeutic gases, including INO and HeO2; Conducting Pulmonary Function Tests; Assisting in bronchoscopy; Monitoring hemodynamics; Analyzing waveforms; Evaluating nocturnal SpO2 (Desaturation Studies); Conducting polysomnography; Performing transport duties.
Qualifications:
Education/Skills:
- Associate Degree
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years in a relevant field
- Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications: RT or RCP License in the state of employment; RT PERM or RCP PERM License in the state of employment.
