We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to join our team at Alternatives, Inc. in Somerset, NJ. As a Direct Support Professional, you will play a vital role in supporting adults with developmental disabilities to live their best lives with dignity and respect.
About the RoleAs a Direct Support Professional, you will be responsible for providing support and assistance to our residents in their daily lives. This includes assisting with activities of daily living, such as administering medication, cooking meals, and performing personal hygiene. You will also assist in the implementation of individual behavioral plans, using effective teaching and mentoring techniques to help our residents achieve their goals.
Responsibilities- Assist residents with activities of daily living, including medication administration, meal preparation, and personal hygiene
- Implement individual behavioral plans, using effective teaching and mentoring techniques to help residents achieve their goals
- Assist residents with transportation to medical appointments and community outings
- Document resident progress and report any concerns about their health and safety
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver's license with a good driving record
- Ability to pass criminal/registry background checks and a drug screen
- Clear tuberculosis (TB) screening
- Ability to pass and maintain required trainings, such as CPR/first aid, medication administration, and positive behavioral support training
- Basic computer skills
We offer a competitive wage of $20.25/hr ($22.25 on weekends) and a range of benefits and perks, including paid training, annual raises, mileage reimbursement, staff appreciation events, employee recognition awards, health and wellness fairs, and eligibility for a federal student loan forgiveness program.
