About the Role:

The Senior Flight Safety System Engineer position is a critical role within the Energetics and Propulsion Department, part of the Mechanical Engineering Directorate at Raytheon. This organization is responsible for designing and developing propulsion technology to support the Land Warfare and Air Defense mission area.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify issues, propose solutions, and ensure appropriate action is taken to mitigate issues
  • Work independently as a self-starter, utilizing effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Collaborate with the hiring manager to set a schedule for this hybrid role

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM)
  • 5 years of experience with a technical engineering background in the aerospace or government sector, or an advanced degree with 3 years of relevant experience
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance prior to the start date
  • U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree
  • 5 years of directly related experience in mechanical and electrical design
  • Specific experience developing electrical sub systems used in flight termination
  • Experience developing and qualifying flight systems for harsh environments
  • Working knowledge of RCC319
  • Experience developing destruct termination devices
