Job Title: WordPress Developer

We are seeking an experienced WordPress Developer to join our team at Vector Consulting, Inc. in North Chesterfield, VA.

Job Overview:

As a WordPress Developer in our IT Division, you will be responsible for providing enhancements and security for six WordPress applications while working closely with stakeholders. Your full stack development work will support our agency's mission in highway safety, emergency messaging, and recruitment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop new features and services across the full stack in WordPress
  • Build solutions in WordPress that support positive, accessible user experiences in both desktop and mobile environments
  • Debug and remediate security issues for public-facing applications
  • Work with agile development methodologies, adhere to best practices, and pursue continued learning opportunities
Requirements:
  • Demonstrated expertise in WordPress application development
  • Proficiency in PHP coding and debugging
  • Proficiency in front-end technologies like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • Understanding of SQL
  • Understanding of REST API
  • Proven knowledge of back-end/infrastructure maintenance and optimization and UX/UI principles
  • Proven knowledge of secure coding practices
  • Ability to work as a team member on web development projects end-to-end
  • Outstanding communication skills
  • Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in information sciences, computer science, or a related field
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience in WordPress application development
  • 5+ years of experience in PHP coding and debugging
  • 5+ years of experience in front-end technologies like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • 5+ years of experience in understanding SQL
  • 5+ years of experience in understanding REST API
  • 5+ years of experience in back-end/infrastructure maintenance and optimization and UX/UI principles
  • 5+ years of experience in secure coding practices
  • 5+ years of experience in outstanding communication skills
