Youth Climbing Team Coach

Job Summary
The Climbing Team Coach is a key member of our team responsible for delivering high-quality coaching and instruction to our youth climbing teams. This role requires a passion for developing young athletes and a strong background in climbing instruction.
Key Responsibilities
- Coaching and Instruction
- Deliver practice content to our youth climbing teams and craft a transformative experience for all levels of Competitive Youth Team Programs.
- Partner with Youth Team Managers to plan and execute programming that promotes our core values and a sense of belonging in team members.
- Team Management
- Work with Team Manager and other coaches to follow the season schedule and deliver daily instruction for this level of team.
- Coach at practices of this level of team, and competitions as needed based on athlete attendance.
- Provide supervision for youth climbers who will be bouldering, lead climbing, and belaying.
- Administrative Duties
- Assist the Youth Team Manager with administrative duties for this team level, including monitoring team rosters, tracking belay training, organizing practice notes, and communicating with parents.
- Effectively communicate any issues or concerns with coaching staff and the management team.
- Collaborate with Youth Team Managers to facilitate mentorship opportunities and personal development for their team level.
- Qualifications
- Embody Movement Core Values and the desired culture of our youth team.
- Display a passion for developing youth athletes and climbing coaches.
- Excellent communication skills. Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with athletes, coaches, parents, and gym leadership.
- Knowledge and experience in climbing instruction commensurate with the team level being coached, strong climbing and training background.
- Experience with USA Climbing competitions, route setting, and/or competitive climbing is preferred.
- Ability to travel for competitions + events as needed.
- Current USA Climbing Coach membership, or ability to obtain this immediately upon hire, is required. This includes Safesport, First Aid, and CPR certifications, and also the ability to pass a background check.
Additional Information
- This position is a Part Time (8-15 hours/week), non-exempt position, including gym membership, gear discounts, guest passes, and other benefits available to Movement employees.
- Starting pay is $20 with room for flexibility depending on experience.
