Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Interventional Pain Management Registered Nurse to join our team at The University of Kansas Health System. As a key member of our Spine Center, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and contributing to the success of our interventional pain management program.

Responsibilities
  • Medication Administration: Administer medications and conscious sedation per hospital policy, ensuring the highest level of patient safety and comfort.
  • Clinic Operations: Assist in the daily upkeep of the clinic, including accudose management, crash cart checks, blood glucose monitoring, and maintenance of supplies par levels.
  • Quality Improvement: Assist in the development and implementation of department/unit quality improvement activities, promoting a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Care Coordination: Coordinate care delivery, utilizing resources to promote the continuum of care and ensure seamless transitions for patients.
  • Patient Information Management: Coordinate patient information, including lab results, radiology reports, history and physicals, and physician orders, to facilitate timely progression of the clinic schedule.
  • Professional Development: Demonstrate professionalism by practicing, maintaining, and increasing knowledge of nursing and healthcare trends through evidence-based practice.
  • Shared Decision Making: Engage in shared decision making at the global, unit, or project level, promoting collaboration and effective communication.
  • Post-Procedural Care: Perform appropriate follow-through after procedures, including dressing of sites, physical assessment, and notification of physicians of any untoward effects.
  • Patient Assessment: Perform patient assessment by assimilating data about patients' physiological and psychosocial status, safety issues, self-care, educational needs, discharge planning, etc.
  • Procedure Preparation: Prepare and assist physicians with procedures, including positioning of patients, prep of appropriate sites, obtaining correct medications and supplies.
Requirements
  • Education: High School Graduate; Associate Degree Nursing with completion of BSN within five years of hire.
  • Experience: 2 or more years of RN experience; 2 or more years of pain management experience with procedures preferred.
  • Licensure and Certification: Basic Life Support Heartsaver (BLS HS) within 14 days; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 180 days; Licensed Registered Nurse (LRN) with current active multistate state registration in good standing.
