Speech Language Pathologist

At TX-STAR Speech Language Services, we are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Speech Language Pathologist to join our team. As a Speech Language Pathologist, you will play a vital role in providing top-notch speech and language therapy services to students ranging from preschool through high school.
Key Responsibilities:- Assessment and Evaluation: Conduct comprehensive evaluations to diagnose speech, language, communication, and swallowing disorders. Employ a variety of diagnostic tools and practices to accurately identify student needs.
- Individualized Education Plan (IEP) Development: Develop, implement, and adjust IEPs or 504 Plans for students with speech and language impairments, ensuring that goals are specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and time-bound.
- Therapy and Intervention: Provide direct therapy in school settings, utilizing evidence-based practices to address speech, language, voice, fluency, and other related disorders. Engage students in activities and exercises designed to mitigate their impairments.
- Collaboration and Consultation: Work closely with teachers, parents, and other professionals (e.g., occupational therapists, psychologists) to implement comprehensive support strategies for students. Provide guidance and training to school staff and families to support speech and language development.
- Documentation and Compliance: Maintain accurate and confidential records of evaluations, therapy sessions, and progress reports. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as professional ethical standards.
- Professional Development: Stay abreast of the latest research, tools, and techniques in the field of speech-language pathology. Participate in professional development opportunities and apply new knowledge to practice.
- Master's Degree: In Speech-Language Pathology or Communicative Disorders.
- Valid Texas License: In Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP).
- Certificate of Clinical Competence: From the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
- Previous Experience: Working in a school setting or with pediatric populations is highly desirable.
- Strong Understanding: Of federal and state special education laws.
- Experience Working: With individuals with diverse learning needs, including but not limited to autism spectrum disorder, developmental disabilities, and emotional/behavioral disorders.
- Familiarity: Of Special Education principles and practices.
- Excellent Interpersonal Communication: And organizational skills.
- Ability to Work: Collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and other school staff as well as parents of students.
- Reliable Transportation: And willingness to travel to multiple school locations as needed.
- Bilingual: Spanish language skills are highly valued.
